The Burgundy area of France's small town of Cluny is renowned for its beautiful architecture and rich history. The town's former abbey, which was once among the most significant and prominent ecclesiastical organizations in Europe, is perhaps best recognized.

The Monastery of Cluny was established in the tenth century and immediately became well-known as a hub for art, culture, and learning.
